Asher Browne grew up in New York, where he studied Fine Arts before moving to Japan for eight years. As a foreign exchange student, he spent most of his free time exploring the many gardens in and around Kyoto. After graduating from Kansai University of Foreign Studies, he joined a traditional garden company, and embarked on a quest to learn the principles of Japanese gardening.
During his four years training in Kyoto, Asher worked full-time with professional garden crews in some of Japan’s most famous gardens. In addition to his hands-on training, Asher also completed Kyoto’s prestigious Zoen Kumiai certification program for craftsman, as well as a study stint with the gardeners at the internationally-renowned Adachi Art Museum.
Asher now combines his training in Japan with his background in the Fine Arts to create unique landscapes tied closely to interior living spaces.
